CHOCOLATE SWIRL MILKSHAKES

Make Ahead:  It is a good idea to
let the ice cream sit at room
temperature for 30 minutes before
beginning this dessert preparation.
the ice cream will soften and be
easier to blend.

Serves 4

These delicious milkshakes are
great by themselves or you can
serve them with your favorite vanilla
cookies.

SHOPPING LIST

Vanilla Ice Cream, Maraschino Cherries, Chocolate Fudge Syrup,
Milk, Vanilla Extract

INGREDIENTS

3 cups vanilla ice cream
3 cups milk
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup chocolate fudge syrup, divided
4 maraschino cherries with stems

  1. Combine the ice cream, milk and vanilla in a blender.  Process until thick and smooth (about 1 minutes).
  2. Divide the fudge syrup among the parfait glasses cover the bottom and drizzling the syrup in a spiral pattern around the inside of each glass.
  3. Pour equal amounts of ice cream mixture into each glass.
  4. Swirl some chocolate fudge syrup over each serving and place 1 cherry on the top of each milkshake.

VARIATION

For a different mocha taste, use coffee ice cream instead of vanilla and garnish with instant coffee.

EXPRESS COOKING

Save a few minutes by stirring all the fudge syrup into the shakes instead of drizzling around the sides of the glass.

You can clean your blender easily by filling it halfway with hot water, add a drop of dishwashing soap, cover and blend for about 30 seconds.

MONEY SAVING TIPS

If you have about 4 or 5 ounces of milk chocolate chips, melt the chips in a double boiler, cool slightly before drizzling in the glasses instead of buying chocolate fudge syrup.
