INGREDIENTS
3 medium onions, sliced thin
VARIATION Sprinkle the toast with cheese and broil or microwave until the cheese melts. Place in bowls and ladle soup over toast.
EXPRESS COOKING To keep the onion from slipping, slice it in half from top to bottom then lay the cut side down and slice into the desired thickness. You can also keep the sauteed (or carmelized) onions in the freezer for several months. Then they will be ready next time you prepare this recipe.
MONEY SAVING TIPS Keep a lid on odors in the refrigerator and store your onions in a screw-top glass jar. Don't store them in plastic as the odor will permeate the plastic and affect the taste of other food.
