SHOPPING LIST

Mozzarella Cheese, Oil, Flour, Bread Crumbs, Eggs, Seasoned Salt

INGREDIENTS

4 cups of vegetable oil
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup season bread crumbs
2 eggs
1 tablespoon water
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
24 bite size pieces of mozzarella cheese (about 8 ounces should be fine)

  1. Heat oil in an electric deep fryer to 365 degrees or until a bread cube browns in about 1 minute.  Place bour and bread crumbs in shallow plates.  (If you don't have an electric deep fryer you can use a deep saucepan or dutch oven, anything that is deep enough to hold 4 cups of oil.)
  2. Combine eggs, water and salt in small bowl.
  3. Place cheese bites on a wooden skewer or chop stick and roll in flour, then dip in eggs.  Repeat the coating and then roll in bread crumbs.
  4. Fry mozzarella (only a few at a time) in the hot oil until they are brown (about 2 minutes).  Remove and drain on a paper towel.

VARIATION

You can substitute Gouda or Gruyere cheese in place of the mozzarella for an elegant dinner party.

EXPRESS COOKING

To insure a less greasy frying, make sure the oil is at the proper temperature.  For best results use either a deep frying thermometer or an electric fryer.

MONEY SAVING TIPS

Firm cheeses usually work best in the recipe, but you can use whatever cheese you have on hand.  Chedder cheese is an excellent option to the Mozzarella and costs less.
