SHOPPING LIST

Parmesan Cheese, Steak, Marinara Sauce, Flour, Dried Basil, Salt,
Pepper,Eggs, Oil

INGREDIENTS

1 cup all purpose flour
2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
2 teaspoons dried basil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 eggs
12 ounces round steak, trimmed and thinly sliced
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup prepared marinara sauce or other meatless red spaghetti sauce

  1. Combine flour, parmesan cheese, basil, salt and pepper in a small bowl and mix well.
  2. Lightly beat the eggs in a medium bowl and dip the steak strips into the eggs (allow the excess to drain back into the bowl).  Coat the steak with the flour mixture, patting gently so the coating adheres to the steak.
  3. Heat the oil in a large skillet over a medium-high heat and fry the steak fingers in batches, turning the pieces once, until the coat is golden brown (about 5 minutes).
  4. While the steak strips are cooking, heat the marinara sauce in a small saucepan over a medium-low heat.  Place the steak fingers ona serving platter and serve with the sauce for dipping.

VARIATION

Experiment with different dipping sauces.  Try either a barbecue or mustard sauce for a great taste.

EXPRESS COOKING

Chill the steak in the freezer for 30 minutes for easier slicing.  Cut across the gain of the meat to give the most tender meat.

MONEY SAVING TIPS

If you use a lot of egg whites, look for powdered egg whites in the baking section of the supermarket.  This will eliminate the waste of the egg yolks, and you will always have egg whites on hand.
